Video poker strategy cards are the equivalent of basic strategy carts
for blackjack. Each variation of video poker will have its own strategy
cards available. The cards are not provided by the casinos or game manufacturers
themselves, as is often the case for blackjack. Rather, game players have
worked them out over time, and often sell them to seekers. We have strategy
cards for two of the most common video poker games on the market today,
Jacks or Better, and Deuces Wild.
Since there is no standard method of making a video poker strategy card,
you'll rarely find two alike, unless they were made by the same person.
The concept they are trying to get across is the same though, once you
learn to use one, you should be able to figure any others out.
To use video poker strategy cards, fire up your game and take a look
at the hand you've been dealt. Start comparing this hand to the hands
on the strategy card, starting from the top, working your way down. The
highest hand on the list that matches the hand that you have, are the
cards you should keep. Keep the combination of cards that match the strategy
card listing, discard the rest, and you've made the right decision!
Not all video poker strategy cards are created equal. For common games
like Jacks or Better, you'll find pretty much the same strategy everywhere,
but for uncommon games you may not have the same level of consistency.
Faith in the strategy card is an important thing, so ensure that you're
using a well known one before you start. Sometimes your gut will tell
you to play differently than the card suggests, and while I don't recommend
it, sometimes it sure is hard to ignore your gut.
The strategy cards will lead you to more royal flushes however, and that's
what its all about, getting paid!
